Originally posted by Entertainment_News:The most adorable part of the movie is the animation/special eefects used to characterize the ghost or the spirit which forms the main protagonist of the movie. You will fall in love with the scene in which the spirit creates a pool of rose petals around the girl,
a courtyard covered entirely in red rose petals out of his love for her.
From the opening scene the squirrel, peacock and the bird (manifestations of the spirit) follows the girl you are dragged into a wonderful world of make believe from where you would never want to return. all done in Hollywood CG
Paheli and it's Spirit lover are more chances to win this year Oscars as this is official entry for 2006.
Please try your luck hereOriginally posted by Entertainment_News:There is also a mind twister scene where the villagers unable to solve the dilemma of the 2 person who look alike, one the spirit , the other is the real husband of the girl who returns unexpectedly . To identify who is the fake On the way to see the King to solve their problem they meet a wise sheperd who devises 3 plans to identify the real person...............
1st plan :- he asks the 2 to touch hot coal and if one of them is burnt , then he must be lying. The real man steps forward to touch but he wthdraws showing typical human nature. the Spirit fake does not but remains calm. This plan seems unhuman way but actually its a human way to find out
2nd plan: Cannot remember except that to round up some sheep in less than a minute which again the real guy steps forward having difficulty exibiting human traits while the fake one just stands there and watcheds as if he is not interested and remains cool and calm...This plan seems to be a decoy for of the sheperd..
3rd plan: The sheperd proposes a unbelievable method. he says who can go into his empty water container is the real person. But his trumpcard is that he lures the spirrit's emotional nature into his trap . He says " ..to prove your love for your wife..." statement..the spirit very well aware and unable to withhold this test decides that it is his test of love and he gives himself away by vaporising himself and entering the container.Again , this plan seems unhuman way but actually its a human way to find out
Ending: The spirirt returns again to the girl but no one is sure how after being trapped...MY QUESTION IS ( to those who seen the film) WAs the real man in the above 3 test who was fumbling actually the spirirt putting up a show showing human nature?

Bollywood make 1 million dollar also none of my businessOriginally posted by Entertainment_News:And in case u have been in the dark for long, Bollywood is making more regional movies, music now from novels storybooks and some from western side. ......
Most of these have far get better review than their english counterparts because of their more colourful or artistic sense styled of adaptation. ..I dont watch violent or trashy bollywood films..all country have both good and bad films made..u cant steretype that this is that or vice versa...
i don't care if it's paheli or mangali or bangali or mahaliOriginally posted by Entertainment_News:I dont see why does the issue springs up here. A lot of the movies get selected for the "foreign film category" in the Oscars like Lagaan..
..very often though it is epic musicals or fantasy adaptations of bollywood which make big on international arena...like Devdas, Lagaan, Ashoka...
There are commercial movies made in Bollywood all the time the kind showing people dancing in discotheques, crime thriller or show beaituful women all the time.
This kind will prevent one from from taking the films seriously. However, a very nice set design and simply superb colours make the film not entirely a joke.unless it is let down by poor screenplay and acting...I will add "Paheli" to that list. But the treatment here is slightly different and this is not a "typical" Bollywood film Paheli, here not only comes as a whiff of fresh air by being original but also as a tight slap on the face of all such advocates
Take any aspect of it - direction, acting, dialogues and dialogue delivery (keeping in mind that it is set a long time back in the past and also the heavy regional accent), lyrics and music and to a large extent art direction and cinematography (this film is going to win a LOT of awards, believe meand deservedly so !). I couldn't find a flaw for the entire length of the movie. A special mention must be made of the high quality CGI special effects, which are an integral part of the narrative. And it is probably the best filmed love story I've seen in a long time !
