PIE, steven rd exit

How come so many accidents happened there just before the exit to stevens rd? Yesterday, 1120am one case. One die one injured badly. I passby opposit lane saw one body on the road
Could the design of the road there caused accidents to happen daily? Or bad 'feng shui'? -
the bend with the "accident zone" signages ah?

2-300 meters before the deadly bend. Why can't LTA install a speed cam there so ppl will slow down before that bend?

since the day i got my license till now.. i nv see any accidents there before...
But there are always several factors involved.. ie: u must see if the victims are the ones who drive like inital D or not..
if u dare to drive this fast, u will also know that u are risking ur life..and lives of others.. (if u biong into them) -

Don't think so. I think it got something to do about the road surface. Notice that just a certain portion of the road, the surface is those more tar-surface you find on normal road but after that 'line' ends, you'll see the road with new 'design'- more rough surface and thats where accidents happen after that area. Yes! Thats the correct word for it. But funny leh, motorcycle always skidded on the type of road surface. I remember KJE also many malaysian motor accidents there. Road surface is those new types.Originally posted by SBS9828X:i tot the new ones are ones with more grip?

i even skidded while driving a LEARNER car in a storm outside maha bodhi school in ubi. the 'red bricks' one. -
yes, that bend is a accident area. last time, while preparing for a safety campaign, we were given a lot of clips of accidents captured by EMAS and J-Eyes, and oh man, a lot of the accidents happen there.
there was a case of a guy who turned at a right-turning bend side too fast and since blind spot, hit a taxi in front at 2am. after that, at intervals of no less than 20 mins, there are near misses and even more accidents cos all keep slamming into the sandwich, and those who tried to escape drifted either into the mess or away, and the debris just spills onto the middle lane. recovery vehicle come, with flashing lights, also kena bang. the whole incident finally ended at 3.30am when they managed to move all the vehicles to the left shoulder. duh.
i also seen a pickup, for no reason, at lunch time at aye, bright weather, from the right most lane cannot turn right slide quickly onto the left barrier. luckily the traffic slowed down enough not to bang into him.
basically the area is full of blind spots 'cos of the double bends, but the design was made based on historical reasons (alignment of and proximity to whitley rd). i suppose what LTA can do is to put exceeding numbers of warning signs at that junction and speed camera. come to think of it, why no speed camera there??? -
Bend, slope, whatever, but I believe accidents don't happen if you don't speed.
For example:
Every time there's a road with merging lanes (like those leading onto expressways), motorists behind you will try to squeez in beside you and try to overtake you at the last possible moment when the lanes merges into one.
This habit (or mentality) in driving, will always contribute to accidents.
Not bends, slope, or whatever.
