I've followed the trend myself when I was younger, but now it just seems sooo.... pointless. Everything is mark-up for the occasion, and the whole thing seems more for the retail sector than anything else.
These days I just get my wife a gift, if I see something she'll like (and I can afford). But won't wait till a pre-determind date that someone (whom I don't know) sayz, it's the day to let your someone knows you love him/her.
