Maybe can try adding RAM to solve it. But will still lag if it is draining your computer's resources. One way to overcome it is to use Firefox or Opera or any other browsers you trust.
Another thing is check for spywares and all. Sometimes it is due to those spywares and adwares.

Opera got IE feel, if you don't switch the view. They let you choose whether you want IE, Firefox or Opera way of viewing the websites. By default, it is set to IE.
