You can't. I've tried before. The only way to do it is use a digital camera and take it off ur screen or by using another software.

if u wanna take a screenshot of a video in ur pc... can use windows movie maker.. -
Using MPC: Go to File/Save image of the player and current frame of the vid will be saved as jpg
Using WMP:
Step1 Go to tools/option/performance/advance and uncheck “use overlays” for video mixing renderer.
Step2 Print screen using keyboard button
Step3 Open MSPaint and paste it in.
Step4 Save it as jpg
Using Real Player:
Step1 Go to desktop, right click/properties/settings/advance/troubleshoot
Step2 Reduce the hardware acceleration to none
Step3 Print screen using keyboard button
Step4 Open MSPaint and paste it in
Step5 Save it as jpg
Step6 Increase hardware acceleration to Full after job done. -

While video is playing on your PC (assuming you use WMP), press PAUSE, then PrtScn (printscreen).
Voila! Screen Shot. -

So far the only player I've seen which can easily PrtSc is Quicktime. WMP definitely cannot straight away PrtSc -

eg screenshots done this way are not possible on bakakozou anime subs, but doable on Shinsen subs
(the term Bakakozou and Shinsen-subs refers to anime subbers) -
The reason why some videos cannot be captured via screenshot is the way they were rendered. If its rendered in YV12 format, no problem, but most renders disable this format, so you usually end up with a blurry shot or no shot at all.
If your player has the option to play in RGB mode, no problem, use the printscreen will do just fine. -

Windows Movie Maker is a better choice than using Print Screen definately.
But if you have a Video Editing Soft-ware, that would be a better choice. -

very sure there are video players that have the snapshot function... not windows user, but i alrd noe of more than 3 apps that can take video snaps on OS X wor.

if the above settings not done can still save image in bitmap,tif,png etc using MSpaint.
