the phone will be out in march if nokia decides to push it.. FCC has already approved the phone 5 days ago. but i believe the initial production phones will have a lot of bugs..
there was a rumour that they could not improve its standby time and stability of the software used on the n91. the issue here is that at the moment the n91 is working from a seperate flash memory chip, but nokia is trying to make the o/s run on from the microdrive hdd, to save on costs and makes the o/s easier to work with. if nokia decides to work on this, the earliest it can come out with a fixed phone is late may.
the intiial software version will be v9.1. -
here is a provisional copy of the n91 phone manual (pdf, 2.1mb). read it to understand more of its features.
interesting points:
1. it's amazing they are sticking with BL-5C used in 7650 and n70, and not the higher-capacity BL-6C originally designed for QD.
2. you cannot remove the back cover of the phone while the n91 is on, it will stop the microdrive.
3. only 802.11g Wi-Fi is supported. WEP (up to 128-bit), WPA and 802.1x authentication is also supported, thus we can use them on certain local uni networks.
4. music player supports AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, WMA, WAV, 3G2, 3GP, 3GPP, 3GPP2, MPEG, MP4, M4A, DCF, ODF, ASF and M3U. equaliser is present.
5. macromedia flash player, svg player and realplayer is pre-installed.
now i wonder if there will be new symbian apps that are optimised for use of WLAN, then i can use MSN on my phone while at home.

How the heck did you receive a provisional manual at this stage.
As far as i know they are making it available to companies assisting them in translation, printing, and other "beta testers".
And they usually sign a NDA, so you hinting u breaking the NDA?

oh yeah, i checked, this manual is public domain since 16th dec (45-day short-term confidentiality note accompanying FCC application).
i also got N80 manual. wheee.... -

Hahahhaa... it is a matter of time since creative mp3 players of large capacity say 20 Gb also uses microdrives inside. Who knows handphone may become a mini hard disk in future

But the shape looks weird, have to see the actual thing to decide whether to buy or not.
Also features a 3.5mm jack for convrntional earphones but u will need to disconnect to answer the call if comes in while ur listening to music. -

It should hit us by end March.
N80 Release Info Update
First push: 20th April.
Singapore: end May.
Price point should be same or up to S$49 cheaper than N90.
A thing to note is that they are likely to come without vibration features. -

Nokia is very smart and good when it comes to innovation, but they always forget abit of the basics. For this case, wow putting a massive microdrive in, but forgot about the interface for data transfer.
