Poly examination system

Hey guys, I just got my O level and am waiting to enter in poly; but I am still a little confused about examination system in the polytechnics. All this while if was thinking it will be just like the system used in Sec schools-every month got common test,1 min year exam,1 end-of-year exam and after 3 years take an exam from Cambridge to get your diploma-But last week I went to an open house and one of the guides told me that Cambridge has nothing to do with polytechnics
. Now IÂ’m confused so whoÂ’s going to set the final year exams?
Can someone with experience please clear my doubt? -

In Sec school no matter how tips your teacher gives when it come to major exams nobody can help you. Even the teachers don't know what is going to come out. One is ICA (1 hour) which consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Short Answer Questions (SAQs).
Other is Exam (2 hours) which consists of more MCQs and more SAQs. -

if not some university easier to pass and some harder to pass but still get degree. not fair!! -

If you really study hard, you don't need tips trust me. I've got friends who score a GPA of 4.0. Unfair? Perhaps. But nobody said the world is fair.
For your case, maybe you would like to go to JC and continue in this fantasy of "everything must be fair". I'm not from JC so I can't say much, but I am pretty sure life is not much fairer there.
As for Poly? Well, it teaches you many things other than academics. Things that are relevant to your life, thats why its a tertiary institution. -
In O level the syllabus clearly tell u what to study and what not to. Is that such a thing in poly? Do they follow a strict syllabus?

Which course are you looking at? Some courses are largely project based and have say, 2 exams throughout the 3 years...
if you are scared of losing out, you should make friends with people from other classes in your courses and exchange notes if the lecturers give tips.

All poly exams have 3-4 rounds of markings and moderation. -
normally when it's around exam period,students would go look for their lecturers to try and get some exam tips from them.

and diff modules got different ways of examination..
some are more project based,some more written based..
and there are stuff like presentations and class participation marks..
