Where to go?

  For a short get-away? Maybe just a 3D 2N or 2D 1N?
  
  I was thinking of Holiday Inn at Batam which cost about $75?++ on twin sharing basis for 2D1N but the last time i went there was a horror nightmare, almost thought i would never make it back...
  
  Anyone? Suggestions? Looking for resort stlye, free and easy, lots of sun and swimming, evening can chill with some drinks and pool...

  Thought of Bintan... but not familiar with the place, and the food there wasn't too nice. Wanted Banyan Tree but it was soo soo expensive!
  
  Any other resort in Bintan to recommend?

  Redang is quite badly abused by now.... infact, it dun quite have much to offer.

  nope, i've seen photos my colleagues took. so i'm like dying to go there and take photos of that place myself.
  
  but after hearing about the abuse. i'm not sure where to go now.
  
  i guess i'll consider my previously planned holiday destination. bintan...

  that's the fun about holidays. going to some place you're not familiar with.
  
  i was aiming banyan tree too. but that will come after my upcoming high cost holiday.

  Bintan Lagoon. Its not ex but FOOD is ex...
  
  Anyway... Monsoon season now..... don't think u can play watersports.
  
  or try langkawi for cheaper R & R under the sun?

  Is it still Moonsoon season? Thought it was already over. Anyway, I'm not really keen on sea sports, more like want to just hang out at the resort/ hotel, swimming, eating, maybe spa...
  
  Langkawi gotta take plane right? i dun travel much, so i'm quite ignorant about all these...

  Banyan tree was actually on my list but after checking out the prices... it sort of freaked me out... $350 (1pax) on twin sharing basis for 2D 1N.... It's only the private pool and villa that seems inviting.

  Yep.. its still monsoon season till early March.. u won't really get much tan.
  
  As for Langkawi, Silkair flies there daily.

Langkawi is a beautiful and relaxing island but you must know how to speak basic malay to communicate with the ppl outside resort. The things there are cheap and i went to a duty free shop, bought a few small bottles of vodka for RM$7.00/bottle only If not can try, Port Dickson (at Malaysia) near Malacca.

  Thanks for the link. Had booked a 3D 2N at Batam with them about $135 +/- per pax... cheaper rates offered compared to other agency.

  did considered it before but it's quite out of the way (bus journey about 4 hours?) then no other faclities eg; spa, facial etc....
  
  then heard from some of the forumites saying that rendang was quite abused by tourist... so dun quite wanna take the chance.
