12 Year Old Student Charged with Sugar Possession

A 12-year-old Aurora boy who said he brought powdered sugar to school for a science project this week has been charged with a felony for possessing a look-alike drug, Aurora police have confirmed.

The sixth-grade student at Waldo Middle School was also suspended for two weeks from school after showing the bag of powdered sugar to his friends.
The boy, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, said he brought the bag to school to ask his science teacher if he could run an experiment using sugar.
Unbelievable. So it's a crime to carry something that looks like drugs in US? I think criminalizing drugs is wrong to begin with, but this... this is just unbelievable. I mean, what the hell are they thinking with a law like that? There are countless things that could be misconstrued as drugs. Guess they better ban sugar, salt, all sorts of leaves, talcum powder and everything else that is white, powdery or leafy.
The US has of the most bizzare and ridiculars laws I ever heard ... and I have read many in the past. I mean ... US constantly preach "Freedom and democracy" and that all crap.. but it doesn't apply to themselves at all.
Do you know you can be classifed as terrorist, when they find minute amt of bleach, soda and manure etc in your house and simply lock you up without trail. A 5 year old boy classifed as a terrorist and can't fly in a airplane ? To simply name afew. -

If he had really wanted to do a experiment which is acceptable by a teacher, he think he would be in trouble?
Its just that he got caught he say he wanna do some experiment....excuses. What is it about sugar that he cannot get from books, until he need to do experiment to find out about sugar?
