Anyone here appreciate this kind of music? I like UK "God save the queen", China's "long march" ,Italy's "Fratelli d'Italia" and finally Soviet Union's "Gimn Sovetskogo Soyuza"

Marcha Reyal (Spain...it has no lyrics), Mu Isamaa/Maame (Estonia/Finland...they share the same tune), God Save The Queen (UK).

actually almost all national anthems are nice, even the "ulu" countries.. sometimes go encarta play the clips listen also shuang. -

The old Soviet Union anthem, composed by Dmitri Shostakovich, is one of the best national anthems I've ever heard. Also, the French Marseilleise is a classic.

I like the France national anthem the best, following by the England one. The Portugal one is also not bad.
Most countries have better national anthem than the one we have. -

THe Internationale isn't a national anthem and it is usually a song used for "revolutions", 2 well known incidents where this song is used was the "cultural revolution" and "the Tiananmen incident".Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:where's the Internationale!?
anyway, i do like Israel's National Anthem.
Russia, I like their current one (which is the old Soviet one but with new lyrics).
French one they use the Tune of Tchaikovsky 1812 if i am not mistaken?
Funny one is Germany's Deutschland Uber Alles, if not mistaken the current lyrics is different from the Nazi era one.
If read the lyrics of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, all got the phrase, "marilah kita berseru" -

Definitely the Le Marseillaise, check out the lyrics, you would think it is ripped off a limp bizkit record

I don't see Majullah Singapura mentioned! I thought the rendition played two SEA games ago was the best I've heard.
The Italian ones really catchy, hear it all the time in 2004, yeah that year when Michael Schummacher was dominating F1. The Finnish one is pretty good as well., along with the Japanese Kimigayo. Oh something trivial, Liechteinstein's national anthem goes with the same tune as the English one. IT was the England vs Liechteinstein match, haha.. and they were playing the anthems twice over. You can imagine the reaction of the English fans.
A little note on the 1812 overture by Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky was commisioned in the 1860s if I'm not wrong to write a piece commenmorating Russia's 1812 victory over Napoleon France, hence it's namesake. It eventually percipitated in the 1812 overture, but Tchaikovsky has openly stated that it wasn't a piece that he had been exactly endeared to. -

Hmm, Finland and Estonia being Blatic State prob share a common heritage, thus the similar anthemn. As for England, prob Charles' great great grand aunt or some relative of his was the wife of the Duke of Liecheteinstein. Haha, these European royals, they're all inter-related someway or another.
