Simon, try to appreciate the world around you and be very critical in understanding why the world works the way it is.
when i was 16-17... i always top my class and my level in school. i thought i was on the way to clinching the best job and hence become a wealthy person sooner or later.
but alas, the world came crashing down on me, i was 18 at uni thinking my age of a testament of my ability to top the uni, i am matched up with ppl who are the best from their countries!!! My being top in my own school is peanuts to them.
for few years i was demoralised but it is from this experience that i learnt the wide world behind my narrow vision and get to understand that the world is not only me..... -

So I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and I forgive you. I honestly hope you're not going to take advantage of people's forgiveness. Because if you are taking advantage of my forgiveness for you and still engage in bigotry and arrogance, then I pity you. As you've realised, forgiveness the first time round is difficult as it is - it'll be hard for anyone to forgive you for the second time.
I take it that you're still too young and immature to truly have a panoramic view of things - which explains for your viewpoint that all poor people are slothful and lazy. I also see your stubbornness in wanting to hold fast to what you believe in.
It's good to be focused, but you overdid your focus and got tunnel vision instead. It's good to hold on to what you believe in, but you overdid your stubbornness and turned it into bigotry instead. Everything is better when done in moderation.
If you believe that you're not matured enough to be handling these discussions on politics and current affairs, then my advice to you is to stay out of these things. Go back to your DOTA. Come back here only when you have truly matured.
I'm only sad that you have to learn these things the hard way. As Ponders would attest, disillusionment isn't something to truly enjoy. -
