For God sake, natural selection only determines the stronger species. As there are many different kinds of humans, only a certain kind will survive.Originally posted by SixSentinels:When the Human Species came into being hundreds of thousands of years ago, we learnt to be independent and banded together in small communities on the planet. Then we spread from Africa to other parts of the world, ruthlessly out-competing and out-smarting the other predators, securing our position as number one on the planet.
But as the human species grows, it has become weaker. Humans do not have any natural defences, whether they be chemical, physical or psychological. Humans do not have camouflage, making us stand out in the wild, a lure for other predators. But, it is our intelligence that compensates for our other lack of abilities. With intelligence, the human race has proved itself time and again that it will, and forever will be, number one on this planet. However, technology is destroying the human race. Our dependence on technology and the integration of technology into our daily lives, and even into our bodies has made us a species which cannot live without technology.
In the distant future, the human species would reach the peak of its intelligence and cannot go further. We would've mastered Science, manipulated Nature, meddled with Physics, played with Genetics. We would ourselves become a species that would no longer be biological, but artificial. Our minds would remain trapped in the digital world, our bodies weakened through the lack of Natural Selection, which is needed to keep a species healthy and growing.
The Human Species, a race destined to great power, would have its intelligence and its never-ending thirst for knowledge be cause for its demise, its downfall, and very likely, its extinction...
even if we do evolve, which is very unlikely due to the lack of natural selection, and also because we are modifying our bodies to prevent ourselves from evolving, we would not do so biologically, but artificially. we would integrate machinery into us, become cyberorganisms...Originally posted by LazerLordz:Press the button.
Perhaps one day we will evolve beyond the need for a body.
of course, im a great supporter of technology. i cant wait to leave this damned organic body. i believe that IF technology is used properly to create a race of cyborgs, we'll definitely be able to secure our position on this planet as well as our survival. if we continue to be biological entities, we'll be weak to many chemical, physical threats. that is why technology is so fascinating and interesting. but if technology is used wrongly, for example to create a race of animal/human hybrids, or creating superhumans, we would have a conflict greater than what we have now between the world's religions. what we need is everyone to be equal, given the same opportunity, the same technology to excel.Originally posted by Ole:well, our intelligence will help us achieve what the dinosaurs can't, if human went as u say. I mean dependence on technology is good, I can't wait when human can abandon our biological roots. What's so good about evolution when we can take a shortcut and maybe one day we can upload ourself into computers and just evolve intelligence wise, also we won't need food then, maybe can just run on solar power.
As long as we depend on other species for food, we will always be weak as any problems with them will give us problem. Only technology can free us from that dependence.
yes, i believe ants live a much better life than us humans, not individually, but as a whole.Originally posted by Li Ka Shing:Hello....
You said the human species is weak. You mean physically weak? Compared to what?
Yes, we are actually weaker compared to black ants, for example, but do you think they are better than us, do you think they live a better life?
I wouldn't mind an ant's life. However, there are limitations. As the queen ant is the only one leading, the views are limited. And they respect the higher ups, no matter they are right or wrong. Not a good idea as it will bring humans to extinction faster.Originally posted by SixSentinels:yes, i believe ants live a much better life than us humans, not individually, but as a whole.
ants live in massive colonies of millions of individuals, much like humans, but they're very much more united than us. there is one queen, one leader. everyone obeys, not because they decide to obey, but because they want to.
chemicals produced between ants help tell the others which ant belongs in the same colony as them.
ants also have interactive teaching, meaning an ant leader would show a newbie ant new places and teach him where to hunt for resources. the leader and learner are very close, almost like the relationship between teacher and student in human society.
then, there is great teamwork. every ant, except the male/female drones, have to work, each of them contributing to the success of the colony.
ants have nurseries, storage dumps, waste dumps, queen's chamber in their colonies, like humans do.
they also live very similiar lives to ours.
