Ripping DVD legally.

  i want to rip a few seconds clips from a DVD and convert to MPG, AVI.
  
  What program do i need to use?
  
  And where can i find it?

  i only noe, if u use Mac, google for MacTheRipper.

  yes.
  
  there's a provision that allows you not to exceed a percentage of the total media and it's considered legal.
  
  For books i know its 10%. DVD i dunno.
  
  That's is why Best Denki, Harvey Norman when they show movie it always play the same scene.. to keep it legal.

  I dunno myself also... but when i visited Ministry of Environment Library.. the photocopying machine say... Copyright act prohibit copying more than 10% of the book's content.

  i just want to rip FEW SECONDS of a scene of the DVD.
  
  I am not ripping the entire DVD.

  i know if you "duplicate" something in an insignificant amount or for educational purpose it is not illegal.
  
  but the copyright act is so ambiguos....
