  If you mean recording sounds being played on the computer:
  
  Go Volume Control (system tray or control panel), Options, Properties, choose 'Recording', tick 'line in' or 'What U Hear', click OK, click Select, on Line In/What U Hear.

  why dun you download cdex and use it to record?
  somemore saved as mp3 format... that window recording sh.it can only save it as wav file. so big.
  cdex is simple and easy to use. can save into wav and mp3 directly.

  yes. on another note, run Volume Control, go to Properties, select Recording, then select only those input sources if u wan (wave included).

  Cdex is mainly an audio converter (i.e MP3 --> WAV vice versa, CD --> MP3, and so on)
