whats the difference between wireless and pc card modem

once u got a wireless laptop..then plug in the pc card modem to surf wireless is it?

a wireless laptop mean you can access wireless networks without buying extra accessories.
PC card modem is if you want to go online directly without the need of using wireless.
But i have yet to hear ADSL/Cable modem in the form of PC Card. -

okies. PC Card, is an interface, something like USB.
PC Card offers modem, yes, it also has wireless, bluetooth and even memory cards (with adaptors for things like CF etc).
i wonder, the "modem" u're talking about is for 56k telephone line is it? if the modem u're talking about is wireless, then save it. ur laptop is already wireless, buy PC Card Wireless is waste time. -

Is there Cable Moderm built in form of PC Card ? I doubt the power is sufficient anyway.

when I come back to singapore i'll prob sign up for a BB plan. then can I surf wirelessly? Or must I sign up for a 'wireless plan' <-- got such a thing? -

if u wan just an outdoor wireless surfing plan (can't surf at home), u can check out Singtel or Starhub, both offering it at $10/mth as an VAS. -

at home use wireless is good. conveninent. surf in ur room, in the toilet, kitchen etc.
u definitely need a broadband service from singtel, pacnet or starhub. but then, if WiMax do comes out, then u can use wireless like 3G. -

with WiMax, yes, u dun need cables for the whole of singapore. suddenly ur laptop become hp. haha. but i wonder if it'll ever take off fast enough.... don't think of WiMax as your option, it will not be available in the short term, and no laptops offer it yet...
i had an idea, put wireless in trains (1 in each cabin) connected to this router linked to a 3G modem. then SMRT can sell wireless...
