The problem is that some Singaporeans are kinda conservative..They will point or laugh if they spot people wearing such eye catching attires to markets or even just downstairs.

be it, singapore is juz too small for us to change attire whenever we go other places. sudden changes of outings also causes this kinda thing to happen. mayb this is blamed on frequent 'pang seh' and put aeroplane tat is extremely common among singaporeans.[/b]

Dress To Impress. some girls and guys blame themselves for having no luck in having the opposite take a second look at them. well, look at yourself. i mean its cool to wear a simple t-shirt and shorts to the nearby coffeshop, thats how singapore is. but when youre going to town or for an occasion (dates, meetings etc.) , at least wear something nicer. even wedding and funerals, i saw people wearing tshirt n shorts. yes sg is humid, but its people weddin once in a lifetime! even for funerals, westerns people wear suit to the ceremony. not comparing but just giving an example. some people are not really into fashion, but at least Dress To Impress.
that time i wear a long sleeve shirt and smart pants, goin clubbing and out to have fun. my friends who normally wear slackly, "eh you business man already ah?" "eh not hot ah" "wah.. so smart seh"

in european countries. people dress up to pick up girls. in singapore, how many guys dare to approach the girls on the street? and furthermore no matter how nice we dress, will others pay notice to what we are wearing? unless the person is super charming or pretty, who else gives a damn to look at you the 2nd time?

They can have their fish and chips, and we can have our chicken rice. They can have their Geordie and Liverpudlian slang, and we can have our Singlish. They can have their suits and ties, and we can have our berms and T-shirts.
In the end, no one has a right to impose one's fashion sense upon others. What is inappropriate and unpleasant to one may be the hottest fashionable thing to another. Besides, it's not as if Singaporeans are dressing inappropriately or anything. It's not as if we go around wearing SBO, swimming trunks and boots, do we?
We Singaporeans are a highly practical bunch of people. If it's comfortable, we wear it. If it's not, we toss it.

other countires has 4 seasons, spring, summer, autumn, winter, so can choose from different type of clothing, thus in a way bringing up the fashion sense.
but in singapore all year long is summer, people of course wear the same thing every day. -

Yes, maybe it`s simple. but it`s a culture. it`s singapore`s cUltURe. T-shiRt cUlture. Why need to embarrassment by sAying whO caRes....

Fashion is a hobby. It made u happy and confident, but some fashion dressing not quite comforable, it made u feel unhappy le. It lost fashion meaning.
Dressing fashion can be just for some special days....

yes, dress code in sg here isnt ideal in some other countries
but here in sg, we are used to seeing ppl at orchard in shorts and berms and sandals.

Fashion we all know isnt cheap.. Dress to impress well yes.. but Singapore is so different from the other countries.. There are several factors which you guys have pointed out that affects our dressing. Besides wearing nice stuff isnt cheap. Is that why they air Diva on a Dime on TV Mobile?

As long as you are comfortable with what u are wearing, its alright..the weather is kan si lang hot also, if we dont wear shorts/berms/tshirts then what should we wear? long sleeve shirts, or adidas jackets right, yea and walk around town sweating like a dog
