if come to price different, i went in changi airport free tax shop.
10 packs cost SGD 23. -
how does Customs & Excise charge duty on cigarettes?
I paid duty on Wine before, wasn't that ex, less than $10 per bottle which still makes the wine cheaper than if i buy in Singapore.
So if buy from indo and bring in cigarettes BUT declare to customs and pay duty, wouldn't it be cheaper still? -
don't smoke lah, bad for health, bad for the pocket.

Singapore customs will charge 35.2 cents per gram per stick of cigarette.
plus 5% gst.
And limit to 400 grams. anything over, need to apply permit.
how heavy is one stick? -
some times can get it for 10.50 in singapore...

1 stick in singapore is 50-55 cents.
So if we buy from Indo, 1 pack = $1.25. 1 Stick = 6cents.
6 + 35 = 42 cents.
save 13 cents a stick. so you save $2.60 in a pack.
Not worth the effort.
Another way is, if you register a business thru means of LLC. Are you allowed to get tobacco import license?
Like that you can import cigarettes or buy from distributor at cheaper price. and smoke it yourself. -

this is a good cash cow for the goverment .... you can squeeze and squeeze the smokers untill their faces turn green and they expire and they'll still lan lan suck it up ... why ? ... cos it can always be argued that it's for their own good mah ....
but any economics student will tell you ... taxes on goods like ciggies and alcohol are regressive taxes ... they hurt the lower income more than the higher income people ....
