  U pay for subscription...and subscription is normally on a yearly basis...although I think they have 2 year subscriptions too...not sure.
  
  ya....buy 1 version...comes with 1 year subscription...when its about to end...U think about whether to continue with just the subscription....or upgrade to a newer version which would most likely come with another 1 year subscription...or dump the damn software and change to another.

  I've enquired from Harvey Norman and their pricing for NIS 2006 for Student is $69.00. But I've not bought it because I'm too tired after my follow-up at SGH and decided to go home. Thanks to all those who have helped to find out the pricing for me.

  actually if u dont really go to those illegal website or use p2p programs, u dont really need a firewall or antivirus programs. so i dont recommend NIS

  I don't go to illegal websites, uses P2P programmes nor download stuffs off the net often. But I still get virus or trojan attacks. So I rather be safe than sorry.

  Norton Internet Security is good - but I find it too good. It slowed my laptop down to a crawl.
  
  After my subscription expired, I uninstalled it and downloaded AVG Antivirus and ZoneAlarm Firewall - both of which are free.
  
  My laptop's faster now, and just as protected. Just take simple precautions like not opening suspicious email attachments or going to *ahem**ahem* websites, and you'll be just fine.
