If a photograph you had no knowledge of appears on the Internet - depends on what kind right? If the peeping tom kind like upskirt and downblouse, I believe it is a criminal offense. If not, then it has to be some photo taken of you in public, which is not really a problem if you conduct yourself in public.Originally posted by Marco_Simone:However, with the advancement in the ability to manipulate and transfer information, this concerns me a whole lot. What if a photograph you had no knowledge of appears on the Internet? What if it was digitally modified into an obscene photograph?
Under the current law, it appears that you have no proprietary rights over even an image of yourself.
Hmm .. actually it is true. You can't stop someone from taking a normal photo of you in public. If not, then all those paparazzi won't survive.Originally posted by Ponders:I re-read that Forum writer's letter.
She actually wants to know what legal respite there is if her picture is taken without permission. Not so much on indescent shots but rather a normal pic taken.
She mention singapore lack privacy laws to protect ppl.
Even in USA and Canada where there are STRICT privacy laws. The law cannot stop ppl from taking your picture in public.
For somebody studying law, she should know this better.
Sounds like she just started her law studies.

If oni technology become more advance, like taking photographs requires a function like 'bluetooth' from the party you are taking. If the other party off his/her 'bluetooth', your camera can't snap pics when you point your camera at him or her.![]()
