Normally, what will this second interview be like and what are my chances? -

It depend on the company actually. First interview could be a written test. Second interview could be meeting up with the ppl who intend to let you join their team and last interview is to talk about money and welfare benefits stuff with HR ppl.
Or
It could be first interview ppl decide to pass you to another department or team for review as your skills may fit that department better etc...
Conclusion is it all depends but it does not guarantee you secure the job. It only say you are at least 50% of chances to be employed after going thru the first round.

If you had discussed salary in the first interview, it means that you were one of the cheaper ones they could afford so they called you for a second interview.

During your first interview did they ask you about money and benefits stuff? If not then second interview could be purely about money and benefits. It means they want you but still they have a budget to maintain. So if your money expectation can fit their budget they will take you else they look for next best candidate -

So what job did u apply for ? Congrats if your getting your job soon. if not just hang in there. I had to go through 3 interviews and the time to wait before getting the next interview was ard 2 wks each,dame nail biting ...

Most of the times a 2nd interview would means higher chances of securing the job. But don't pin your hopes too high to prevent being badly disappointed.
