How safe is the TV now?

Recently, my baby cousin, only 3 years old, had taken to saying, "STUPID" and making this...face.
And we asked her where she learnt it from. Her answer? "TV."
Now we had limited her time on TV but just yesterday, my maid told me. "You know, Maya, came to me this afternoon and said this "You don't love me, you love only Weiling didi." and I said, "No. Who bath you, who tie your hair, who bring you to school? Me right? But I never do for Weiling didi!" and then Maya smiled and went away happily"
Maya is the name of my cousin and Weiling is my name and Weiling didi means Weiling Sister coz' our religion is Nepalese, don't ask, and then I remember this show....forgot the name..that says, "You don't love me! You love her because you do this...." and so on.
I am worried about this as I feel that whatever the TV impart to her, she remember-and do it.
Plus the fact that some TV shows have the "Shut up" which we don't want her to learn as we want her to be a kind young lady when she grow up. PLEASE DON'T LAUGH AT THIS. And I hear the word, "IDIOT" quite often too.
I know this sound lame but are the TV shows safe for kids to watch nowadays? -
the only programme kids can watch safely these days is sesame street....

Isn't it the resposibility of the older peers to guide the young ones along...if we keep blaming on TV might as well ban it...

I know. But sometimes, we leave her alone to watch TV as whenever she watch a show she likes, she will STARE at it and won't blink until the advestiments come.

Come on lah, nowadays all the kids like that; you go with the flow. Don't swim against the current. Whatever for? You think if she grows up a kind person she will be happy? It is more important that she be well educated and can think for herself and know how to make herself happy. Okay lah coem to the reality part, she will be exposed to the ugly society when she grows up...no u dun have to worry so much & have to take into account that she is young.
But when she grows up one might have to inculcate good manners in kids for it is a basic foundation to make the young ones diffretiate between the good & bad. -

I rather that your baby cousin is intelligent rather than good, kind and stupid. If you really care for her welfare and not just talk, you should buy her baby books and read to her so she she becomes interested in reading, growing up. -

How about read to her just before she goes to sleep? That is usually the time people read to small children. When I was young, I dared not be rude to my elders lest I get caned or smacked.
I am quite an ok person with good character now.
Sometimes, you just need to get a little physical, cos kids these days are getting more and more spoilt.
By the way, I am only 13. So dont give me the "you grew up in the 60's" crap.
You cant stop the child from learning the words, but u can stop her from spewing them. She will learn one day, anyway.
One more thing:
At least she is learning the english from the TV right? "U dont love me, you love Wei Ling didi!" is a good step towards good english.
