how much Do engineering specialization matter when it comes to the real world?
i am not talking about different streams as in mechanical vs electronic stream
,
i am more specifically talking about
electrical engineer who specialize in power
vs
electrical engineer who specialize in communications
on 1 hand i believe that companies will re-train their employees before starting work. hence it's wises to just take a specialization that's easy to study and score a better honors
on the other hand, they might screen out graduates who have not studied the specialization in school before and hence an engineer specializing something unpopular might find it hard to get a job
how much Do engineering specialization matter in the real world?
any professionals or experienced ppl care to shed some light on this?

maybe u can have the title of "XXYY specialist" in ur namecard and make u sound more..........special?

I amnot sure but can tell u this.
If an engineering graduate were to go into an engineer job. There is much competition. But an engineer were to go into a job not related to engineering but
the knowledge is an added advantage, he will do well.
Like for example , a company which dealing in parmaceuticals may want a person who is engineer experiendced to do maintenance of their company equiment at the same time. then the person will be more likely employed than a person who does not have the knowledge. then for that u need to have 2 certs in the affected fields
According to me it is always good to have expertise or trained in more than one field. If u are an engineer already, then try to study other education like medical. at least your educational credentials are diverse even though it is not specialised. -
ee engineering have a lot of specialisation and hence a lot of demand.. esp those more high end kind dealing with signal processing and telecoms..
it will be hard to answer the question without knowing how you will want to progress with your career..
you specialise at the expense of losing mobility and flexibity to switch if that particular sector experience a demand drop.. but during boom times.. these specialists are the ones who command the premium as they are the "experts" in the field.. -

It din matter if you r a fresh grad. Coys will be willing to train u. When u get into the coy, ur on the job training will make u into a specialist after

1. Electrical
2. Mechanical
3. Materials
4. Civil
5. Computer
6. Biomedical
However, in the working world, you are treated as a:
1. accoutant (non-CPA)
2. business admin
3. research fellow
4. sales and marketing
5. financial analyst
6. logistical planner
7. part-time admin assistant and PA
In other words...just do the specialisation of your liking. You will get substantially ABUSED anyway.
