honestly..how many of u guys actually will talk and socialize with them?.
aren't they human?.
sometimes i see the miss HK or miss bla bla bla go to these homes and act as if they care for these under privilleage childreans...
and i do admit that i somehow arent too comfy being around them...
well..recently i got to know a DS girl who is 13 years old in a special home..
the guardian told me that she's suffering from prader -willi..
what does that means?...i know that it somehow means that she eat non-stop...
and ya..u can have 3 gene..
xxy!....not the usual xx or xy..haha

Never seen so never communicate with them.
So far, nothing has deter me from communicating with all kinds of people. -
down syndrome is when you have one extra chromosome in your genetic structure.. think usually you have 23 pairs of chromosomes, each set from either of your parents. when you have down syndrome, you have 3 chromosomes in one of the sets.
IIRC correctly lah, i might be wrong.
i myself am not comfortable with them. sorry to say that.

I have met few DS people, they are so genuine like no normal person. They can enjoy simple things and they get sad when you are sad and they feel with you. We have a lot to learn from them. Maybe they have a low IQ, but they have a huge sincere heart.
I know one 4 years old girl with DS, she is so cute and already knows the alphabet.
DS people are not total idiots, it's us who make idiots of them. If they get proper conditions for education, they can learn a lot. When we just close them to special homes, we give them up, it's unfair. The parents should give a chance to their DS children.
We should give a chance to everyone who is in some way different. Remember, one day it's you who can have an accident or get some disease which affects you for the rest of your life, would you like to be closed in a special home or avoided?

yes i agree...
its amazing how cheerful a disposition they are always in, not fearful of strangers.
probably its their behavior (always talking loudly) and weird facial features (flat nasal bridge and face) that makes us wanna stay away from them. -
if say a baby still in the womb developing say 6 or so months old then it was discovered to have DS coz of one extra chromosome is it possible to use surgery to remove the extra gene?

we can minimize the risk of having a DS baby by giving birth early. above age 35, the risk of getting a DS baby is higher compare to below 30...so on and so forth.
