it's not hard to hack commerical APs, but not residential APs.
u may have the tools, but by the time u get the minimum required, it might be at least a week later.
and u need a pci-based, old chipset card (not broadcom or wrt54g), together with collecting 100mb packet files with airodump before applying wepcrack to it. and it's up to luck whether u have the right combination of packets to get the pass out.
i noe cos i've personally shelled out money to experiment and successfully hacked into my neighbour's after leaving my com on for nothing for almost 10 days collecting packets only. and if airodump hangs, then tat's it, a day's work gone. that for a WEP 40-bit.
another thing is how u recognise whether the WEP is 40-bit or 128-bit, cos most APs nowadays hdie this info.
this hacking is suited for office networks whether data volume is high, not residential networks.
