  the mercury is a preservative...
  
  to make one without the mercury is to incur higher costs... which means a decreased profit margin..
  
  ... now.. do you know where i'm going with this?
  
  by the way, each time someone tries to bring this up to the gabrament in the US, major character assassination takes place... they try to dispute the "findings" but mostly, they go for character assassination...

  this is singapore... the law compels you to vaccinate your child..
  
  well technically it doesnt, BUT,
  
  you need to vaccinate your child to apply for primary school. if you don't immunize, you can't apply.
  
  and since primary school education is compulsory, you're breaking the law on compulsory primary education.

  This issue of the purported association between MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccination and autism had been raised and debated quite fiercely since 1998, and numerous studies since then have found no firm evidence of any correlation nor causation between the two. Hence there's no good reason for parents not to let their infants undergo the innoculation.

  I suppose the main problem is that in medicine and healthcare, alternative treatments and measures and new drugs and vaccines take quite some time to implement. But millions of children have been innoculated with vaccines containing thimerosal, and yet went on to lead normal lives, so we should not be unduly worried by this.

  the one thing i could not understand is why instead of a proper debate or research data, the lobbyists and the pharmaceutical companies immediately went on the offensive with character assassination instead..
