Too many superstar crap ruining our youths nowadays?

My neighbour's son only sec 2 wants to be Singapore Idol.He is addicted to such shows as Singapore Idol,Superstar,Superhost and crap like that.
His whole life revolves around singing,dancing and performing.He is simply interested in studying and as expected,his grades are shi-tty.
Do you feel that there is an overkill of superstar rubbish on TV? And do you think they are detrimental to our impressionable youths??? -
Next time there will be no more jobs for doctors, lawyers and engineers.
So singing, dancing and performing could be the next big thing here.
Keep with the times, dude.

but seriously there is already a barrage of such shows. many of those stars dun survive long. many 'die' away after publishing a few albums, or worse, one album. -

Well, its good that they want to perform to keep us entertain and its not an easy job.
Maybe they are still young, thinking that becoming a celebrity= a lot of money, exposure, well love by fans all over the world etc. But thats only 1 side of the truth, the other part of the truth is that they have to work VERY hard as its very competitive, not everyone will love them (like their paretnts), there'll be negative remarks, rumors etc. A lot of celebrity we see, did not pop out suddenly. They've went thru years of training.
It may be their time to have their 'superstar dream', once the hype is over and they found where does their passion lies, they'll be ok. -
