Police question protester in bear suit during Queen E's visit
AN AUSTRALIAN animal-rights activist showed up at the entrance of the Istana in a bear suit, at a time when visiting Queen Elizabeth II was due to receive a ceremonial welcome.
Police said they spotted the woman at about 9.35am, wearing a bear costume and head dress.
She was holding a placard with the words 'God save the bears'. The placard had the logo of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta).
Police questioned the woman and advised her to leave.
Peta said in a statement that the woman was Ms Jodi Ruckley. It said she wanted to protest against the use of Canadian black bear pelts for the Queen's Guards' ceremonial bearskin hats. -
