Cufflinks - Please help!

  Hi all
  
  Please help to clarify my doubts.
  
  What exactly are cufflinks meant for? Can cufflinks be used on all shirts and coats? How about shirts that do not come along with 2 holes, but 1 hole and 1 button to hook the sleeve up?

  Cufflinks are for formal long sleeved shirt with two button holes on the cuffs of the sleeves. This type of shirts normal don't have any buttons, thus the cufflinks act as the buttons.

  So can i say that sleeves that come along with buttons, the cufflinks cannot be utilize here?

  cuffs that requires cufflinks are called French cuff or double cuff (primarily British).
  it is a cuff on a dress shirt that is folded back and then closed with cuff links or silk knots, instead of buttons.
  so if u want to use cufflinks, u need to get shirts that requires them. thos shirts that we normally see in the stores have barrel cuffs. i.e overlap each other and held down by a button.
  
  FYI....
  from wikipedia;
  French cuffs are considered to be more formal than button cuffs. Although more formal, French cuffs are optional and a matter of preference. If a standard suit (as opposed to a tuxedo) is formal enough for an occasion, then so are button cuffs. For a job interview in a business environment, shirts with button cuffs are generally preferred to those with French cuffs.
  
  Alternatively, instead of cuff links, French cuffs can also be closed with the much less expensive, but just as formal and well-regarded, silk knots, sometimes called monkey's fists. Silk knots tend to be better known in Europe than in the United States.

  mont blanc is nice but still prefer silk cuffs. they're nicer and softer in overall appearance. its not as plastic as a normal button.
