eh... no country in the world is free of tax lah... unless it's a dream world or something, just that the taxes are high or low in the different countries only.

After an extensive research using linear regression analysis, I am able to tell you that life in Singapore sucks not because of taxes.
Singapore tax rate is low.
Very low.
In global terms, Singapore is considered one of the tax havens. Similar with Hong Kong, Dubai, Granada, and some other similar crazy small countries (actually if you notice they are all small countries, Singapore also what).
The real reason why you feel living in Singapore suck is because of lack of land, and highly developed economy and skilled workforce. These factors resulted in high living costs and an average citizen need to be on the toes keep up or sink.

they need your tax to build nice roads, hire ppl to trim the grass, take care of trees, clean up public place, in order to create an image that singaporeans are proud of.
they need your tax to run the army, even somes says that NS is waste of time/ our army cant do anything. As long as the army is still there, they need your tax to keep it running.
ppl who work for the government, like policemen which ensure your safety, they get thier salary from tax payers.
although some said the salary of our ministers are too high, they still need to be paid.
Try to think about how much you contriute to the society, and then think about how much the society spent to make our lifes better. -

other countries have tax..but they make use of it to help their poor citizen..its like da rich r forced to help da poor...and da tax r also used for free or subsidied medical treatment...
