they dun charge. they wanted to, but eventually they didn't. all those list of sites under mcdonald's are outdated.

Maybe the restaurant manager purposely switch off the WIFI so customers can't just sit in the restaurant and surf the net without having any spendings.
Me know some Coffee Bean outlets do that, just to encourage purchases. The other time me went with my friends discussing some plans, the WIFI wasn't up running, then my friend went up to the counter to enquire on the WIFI, the counter crew replied that the WIFI network was down and if we were purchasing any beverages as all the sittings in the outlet were reserved for patrons only. My friend bought four Ultimate Ice Blended, and within five minutes after we went back to our seats, the WIFI was up.
Hmmm... Very unscruplous way of doing business...

Mac's Internet access is free. But some laptop can't connect.

I heard from a friend that for mac, you must buy a drink or something then ask them give you access to their wireless network, never buy anything cannot use de.

the PPCSG article is a bit old, but i did not encounter problems using McDonald's hotspot. in fact, a few days ago, i tested it at funan cos got some N91 and N80 users say they encountered gateway problems, but it was working fine.
maybe that's why i always have singtel's odws service as backup at ten bucks a month... -
the last time i tried at Toa Payoh mac, the one at the hub, alfresco seats, still can connect and no need pay
i even can use the power-point there -
