  thing singular usually can count...things plural usually can count
  
  thus..."there are a few things..."
  and ... "there is only one thing..."

  Few is used for countable things. So the correct one is option 2.

  its neither 1 nor 2.
  few is to be used by single word.
  not accompanied by a. ie: a few
  its suppose to be ie: there are few things i want to say
  n not there are a few things i want to say
