in the threads about this incident we have ppl mentioning there are many signboards warning the ppl of these stuff.. -
Most probably it's a civil suit, normally for civil suit from filing of case to hearing of case can take as long as from quickly 6 months to 5 years, depending on the complexity of the legal suit.

he claimed he lost his job and had to pay expensive medical fees.
sue sentosa for having a dangerous species on its beaches.
THe judge threw the case out and asked him to pay legal fees too.
Crap.
But i think the judge doesn't want to start "american-type" lawsuits trend in singapore. -
that guy thought he can get a out of court settlement.
too bad this ain't america.
anyway, he can try suing the fish next

No offence but isn't that majority of foreigners think they could always reap some benefits from all these small nitty-gritty legal suits against the companies? Me know of an Indian who sued Escape Theme Park for failure to adhere to safety standards when he broke his toe while playing Go-Kart, and his case was heard recently and he claimed damages of $0.5M from the management, but the judge threw his case out of the court for falsely claiming damages and he had since recovered his injury.

Please lor. There are warning signs all over Sentosa to beware of stonefish. He never wear any footwear and step on the fish.

Too bad.. that was really his ill-fortune. Its common sense that if one were to walk around the seabed there is always a chance of stepping on shreds of broken glass, stonefishes, sea urchins etc. Next time must sign indemnity form before Sentosa will allow visitors to enter the water.

Everyone that enter the water bare-footed will have the risk of stepping on any stone fish or even discarded objects. It's his own fault and thus his suit was thrown out by the court.

sentosa's palawan beach actually has many creature.. my bf had once stepped on a baby stone fish.. lucky tat it hasn't develop any poison.. next my bf managed to catch baby puffer fish.. third is that i say so many dead jellyfish lying on the shore.. forth is mi n my bf saw 2 horseshoe crab swam up while mating haha.. i find that beach very interesting..

I truly sympathise with this guy for his misfortune....
But that's what this whole thing really is: a misfortune. It's simply pure bad luck on his part. Heck, it can also be argued to be negligence on his part for not looking out for that stone fish.
This isn't the United States at all, where you can sue a house owner if you slip and fall on the pavement outside his house.
The fact that the stonefish was there is pure bad luck - it's not as though the Sentosa Corporation deliberately planted it there or anything.
If everyone were to follow in this guy's footsteps (no pun intended), then we'll see the National Parks Board getting sued when someone gets stung by bees at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
Likewise, I suppose will LTA get sued if you slipped and fell on a wet and slippery road? And will the National Library Board get sued if a book suddenly fell off a shelf and landed on your head?
Gimme a break.
