Thumb drive or flash drive?

  Hi people, what is the difference between a thumb drive and a flash drive? Which one is a better choice?

  i thought flash drives are terms used for mp3 player?not sure but think they r the same as far as i know.only difference is the spelling

  to me they are the same...just that the name flash drive is kinda more technical-sounding....thumb drive is more for the technically uninitiated.

  the DVD must have RAM properties.. but then, i'll rather carry a thumbdrive than to carry an optical disc around..

  Thumb drive is thus known for the thumb sized memory drive. It's using flash chip inside the drive to store data. Likewise to SD, MS, MMC and so on, they also utilise flash technology to store data. A flash chip is quoted to be more resilient and not prior to data corruption due to accidental drops, also the read/write speed for flash chips varies according to the memory definition.

  to add on i think most flash drives have more storage capacity than thumb drives, flash drives are generally bigger in my opinion, while thumb drives are relatively much smaller
