This state of paralysis (often experienced near the sleep state), is known as the cataleptic state. This occurs when your consciousness has disengaged from the physical body, but still located physically within it. Think of it as a driver in a car, the car already switched off and the driver take off seat belt liao, ready to leave the car, but at that moment still in the car. So the driver cannot move the car (ie. the physical body), macham paralyzed.
In this cataleptic state, it is an opportunity to project out of body, if you have the technique. Nothing to worry about. Though in such a state, it is also common to hear extraphysical sounds or voices from various extraphysical beings or entities. The sounds or voices may sometimes appear to be scary or threatening, but rest assured they can't do you any harm. Relax and try to project out of your body if you can.
