Me not sure if that's good or bad, before Thaksin took the PM office, the Thai economy was in a bad shape but after Thaksin became the Thai PM, he was able to turn things around for the better for the economy.
He has won the biggest respect from the people from the rural areas and also people from the agricultural sector which formed 40% of the GDP.
If the people of Thailand only see the fault of ShinCorp and not underlining his efforts for the country, they had lost a great leader. -

It really shocked me that he decided to steps down. He's a good leader, but it's a waste to see him go.

that's charismatic leader that ur talking abt. and to overcome 'blinded' people bcos of 1 issue, u dun need to be gd, u just need to utilise the military power. look at france and other western countries.
as for the muslim cartoon issue...what can i say? abit abit they talked abt jihad. is there really a need to? we all know better. peace!
coming back to topic proper, thaksin is not that charismatic. he's gd in his own right as a thai PM. in terms of economic recovery etc. -
haiyo..economic recovery may mean nothing to the ppl living in the slums, in cardboard boxes.. if pm, at least try bring the ppl living standards up abit..instead in indulging in other activities...

The thai people may not be in full favour of thaksin because compared to the other PMs during the line, he did not really focused on the country but more towards the foreign affairs which i might add he has done well. Thailand is an emerging economy and its tourism has boosted ever more so since thaksin was put in charge. living standards is accumulated over years. it just doesn't turn up over nite. and how long have thaksin been in office? there're just so many issues on hand.
btw, sg didn't make it to the developed status if not for her people constantly on the upgrade, better garmen, unity of the people etc. we still have slums...HDB slums. -
