how to split MP3?

  i want to use MP3 as my ringtone. but i only want to have the chorus part.
  what software should i do? can windows media player do the splitting?

  i use sony soundforge 8
  can extract the portion you want and save it as another mp3 file
  u can even add in effects to it
  
  but u hav to buy it though

  i want a mini application but a big software which also gives me other tons of features.
