"Udhaya" is a tamil movie released in 2002 starring Vijay and Simran.
After nearly years of hibernation, signs of resurrection of much awaited "Udhaya" was finally released in 2002 and the release of its audio being one important sign that the notion that jinxed movies will never release was proven wrong. Originally to be released in the late 98, the combination raised a lot of expectation among both Vijay, Rehman's and neutral music fans.
Seems this one bit the dust and resurrected again.Back in 97, when news of this movie emerged, expectations of the music were enormous but the film got plagued by financial problems . It did not see the light in due time. Many of releases from AR Rahman never seen the light since 1992.
The story of the "Udhaya" was about a college student who makes an invention of great scientific value falls into the wrong hands.
The rest of the story follows how he saves his invention from evil sinister characters.
Overall "Udhaya" is an average music album which has failed to meet with the great expectations it garnered but again the songs had a unique aura of classic 90s and 2000s rahman in a blend of exotic flavour. Some of the songs may seem to be re touched to suit the milleniuem Rahman trends but the classic 90s is glaringly evident.
Rahman's synthesised sound touch is seen in the songs but that alone was done in by the huge expectations.
