pay or eat first?

Just curious whether anyone thought about this before?
In several places in Singapore, you get to eat first and you pay later after you are done eating. Other places requires you to pay first then you can eat. Which actually is better? Or which is of better customer service?
Actually at a place at bukit timah road, "al-ahmin" (is that how you spell?) is a 24-hour stall. Most of the time, me and my friends would go there to makan dinner or supper...And the system is to order first and go to the counter and pay once you are finished.
At times, we would forget to pay and just go home...and seriously, they don't even know...darn stupid system they have... -
think they are too rich to bother abt the system. the owner son use to be in my camp...and everyday drive merc to camp...rich liao...

it seems like the muslim or indian-muslim coffeeshops i go to follow the eat first, pay later idea. even the cheese prata shop at clementi rd near nus also follows the same thing. prehaps it's their way of business. but they are actually quite smart at identifying who has paid and who has not. i guess urs is an isolated case ba.
of cos, restaurants also are usually eat first, pay later.
for chinese stall owners, they tend not to follow this principle cos they prefer to work smarter, and with less trust. -

hmm...if you eat first pay later...u tend to order more while eating..the other way...nope...
like macDonald...if u order a meal...you tend to not order more things after that... -

well.. they go by system of integrity, and you cheat them = you cheat yourself.
my dad knows the boss very well though,
always go there for supper. -
For owners, pay first better.
For eaters, eat first dun pay the best. -
well i prefer pay first,eat later so that i will know exactly what i will be paying for.Eg going to restuarant,after eating,then you know you are charged additional stuff at ++ and since already finished eating have to pay up even thou you actually did not need those things

I think they best system is pay first then give receipt or something. Convenient for the customer. Just left to makan and then ciao. Owner also never lose any money. Got receipt so the owner cannot kpkb and try to cheat say haven't pay when the customer already pay.
Aiyah but some owners think pay later is more convenient for the customers and they give the hint that they trust the customer lor.. -

Pay first will be better, if i didnt pay i'll feel guilty of cheating the stall owner money.

KNN!! I kenna before sia at NEW STATION @ Far East plaza top floor.After paying for my salted fish fried rice after it came, the person accused me of not paying after i left.I stopped patronising that stall ever since.

hehhe, RS3, I agree with that. Usually, when I went out alone to eat in a place where usually it's an order first and eat later, "they"will wait for me to pay UP if i'm alone. My sentiments man...serious i feel that i tend to eat more when i dont see the money coming out...I order..the food come..i eat...
Then i feel like eating more..i wave my hand and he takes my order...After im done...FULL..ok time to pay..i eat my heart out...
