Question about Contract Jobs...

  Hi, normally do employers give contract job workers the liberty to convert to perm positions? Like to hear some experiences...

  Forget about contract jobs. Go and find a perm job.

  I would suggest you stick to a contract job if it is really a place you can get your experience.
  
  Apart from the bad sides of not having this job for long , Other advantages are
  
  1) Gain exp if you are a freshie
  2) Get $$$ while you source for another job when working
  3) Get to extend your network so you have more pple recommand you for jobs
  
  I would say most of the companies prefer contract position becoz the hassle of recalculating the benefits for a perm position.

  Also, contract workers can be get rid of very easily since they are not perm staff.
  No need to pay them retrenchment benefits etc. So during cost-cutting exercises or what these companies like to call as "restructuring...downsizing...etc", contract workers will be the first to go..they are normally treated like "spare tyres", so to say..

  So, if I receive a certain job offer on a let's say 6-mths contract job and I am told that after 6 mths there's a chance to be converted to perm position based on my performance, its most likely they are bluffing to make me happy?
