  it used to be known as jiao1 ao4. and it is actually not an island but a city.

  If I go there, will get lost one. I rather stay at home and watch Olympics. Anyway, it's either China or US winning the gold, silver and bronze medals, so not really exciting to go there just to watch Olympics.

  It used to be a German colony, and hence the European architecture. Shanghai also has a lot of Neo-Gothic and Art Deco architecture too.
