56k is fine ... VOIPs are carried over UDP, instead of TCP, so 56k is still okay, unless there's upstream congestion as well ... then you'll have to suck thumb ...

and skype also offers internet to phone that you can use to call land lines as well .... PC-to-PC is free .... PC-to-phone is not ...
I get like 3 cents per minute calling from Canada to Singapore .... it's a "no horse run" rate I reckon ...
