I find that it's ok if you snatch the cane away just to avoid getting beaten. But it would be really serious if you use it to fight back.

i cant believe how can kids rebel against their parents when they are trying to discipline them!
ill throw them out of the house and disown them if my kids ever try that on me. -
i dont believe in a one-sided confrontation and i certainly dont like to be beaten while i endure the torture and pain, not doing anything, just standing there...Now thats stupid, isnt it?
Btw, theres nothing wrong in snatching the item from your parents as long as you don't use it on them... -

It's stupid in a general way if you are involved in a one-sided confrontation with an ah beng lah but in this case it's parents. I think that we are expected to endure the so called "torture" as it is a form of punishment. Parents have a natural authority over us and they are probably given the "right" to punish us but the punishments have to be appropriate. If you are just late for school for one day, it wouldn't be right for them to take a golf club and hantam you to death.
An example or analogy to show, would you grab the cane if you were sentence to caning in prison? Or would you cut the rope and throw it away if you were sentenced to hanging by court?
