No wonder Singapore give Bollywood shoot in Singapore.
They are not stupid. They knw it rakes in lots of Dollars because theirs is low cost but earns big bucks movies with clever marketing and gimmicks and gorgeous girls..
They dont need to spend on same old stale special effects..
I have been to the US and i know how the Westerners lap up Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya movies on big screen, even if they dont understand. Now Japan is also doing the same. Indian movies like this shown frequently in Japanese cinemas. DOnt beleive it, go to Tokyo and you know what i mean -
Recently a report says Bollywood Revenues have outperformed the Indian Goverment's Revenue by billions and contributed to the GDP growth.

This is one of the very few Indian movies in the 90s which had a period setting/
The most unique was it smusic. It had the essence of the 40s and 50s Jazz, Indian, and Western styles......:- "Old" songs in today's sound quality. A nostalgic trip to the olden times. gives me goose pimples everytime i hear it. -
This post certainly did prompt me to share my thoughts with the rest( if any who had seen the film)
this is one of the few movies made in India which gained international appraisal and certainly is a movie that is worthy of being dissected several times over a period of several years and generations.At the end of any such dissertation,i only end up appreciating it for an aspect that i may have not noticed earlier. -

Manirathnam's films are India's best films and are studied in film institutes all over the world when mani 's iruvar was released i remember read in india in '97 , political parties in condemned his film & mani sir even removed some of the scenes b4 releasing that could make unwanted raptures between him & the politicians that it was said to b portrayed in that film. but mani sir later after releasing his movie denied in his interviews, it was not abt any politicians jus a story abt 2 persons involvement in politics but very obvious of the fact it was abt the 2 main politician & their parties. his statement then sounded like hiding a big coconut into his small pocket.
simlarly he might be portraying the ambanis in his latest "Guru" (in the works, releasing sometime in 2007). but later may deny it is not abt them. anyway 1 has appreciate the way mani sir observes things happening in other regions & stories to depict in his films boldly considering the fact he does not belong to that region like Srilanka in KM film, Bombay movie, Dilse, Roja etc. like him Mani reads the mind of the pple of all regions & give movies in a variety of choices that every1 could enjoy. Like they say he is one director who makes a film out of something he sees out of the window in fine morning

Aishwarya makes a comeback again. It is also a period film , (set in 1950s Mumbai) .Watch out for it. It is a life story story of a mysterious
" V For vendetta" like character from the 1950-1990s and how he manipulates the world around him throughout the course of 40 years with something as simple as a traffic light and something as complicated as murder. . .The film will show how simple and complicated things work hand in hand to bring about the changes which happen every second in the world as it supposedly deals with the New World Order conspiracy and the Chaos theory/ Butterfly effect. Sounds like an interesting thriller but unlike KRRISH, it wont be any superhero based fantasy story. It will be based on real life historic events with the above fantasy character element added.
India's best film crews and teams are working on it now.
