Who thinks Starhub broadband sucks?

well when i first applied for it,it was good but now after near 2 years when more people had switched to SH and the limited BW is shared btw more people,it is pretty sucky now

Yeah.. I'm using singnet BB.. I don't know why my download speed in BT is so slow ( less then 10kbps, normally 5). Even though there are more then 400 seeders in that torrent.

For those who complain your speed is forever in 2kbps, Your download speed is affected by the server where you download your file from. Lets say even if you have a T3 and you download from a lousy server with 5kbps broadwith, then of course your speed is 5kbps.
For those who really wanted to test your download speed, download from some trusted and famous servers, not those that give you free mp3s and movies. Also, there are website that provide a simple test for that.
For example, try any file from Microsoft.com. If your speed is still so pathetic, then just admit that god don't like you. -

also, bt works by sharing peers to peers. The max you can reach is around 300kb/s. I dunno how they come out with 2mb/s though. -

First of all, if theres 400 seeders and 4000 leechers, then of course slow.
NAT problem is killer, if you have a router and did not do port forward with static ip for your pc, then 10kbps is considered fast
Also, it is important that you seed. You download speed is in ratio to your upload speed in most torrent networks. This can prevent selfish ppl who only download and don't share.
Btw, my speed for Azureus is 100kbps - 800kbps/s. You need to do a lot of configurations, not just open it and use!
Finally look at how many seeds you are connected to, and NEVER NEVER do force start options. -

Haha, dial-up. Really wonder if anyone still uses them. I remember when I first use internet (not many years ago, i am still a student), I got a Singtel Dial-Up instalation disc. High Upload may cause Download to become slower due to package loss and high download may cause upload to become slower due to package loss.
Upload speed is usually < Download speed -

I am using starhub broadband, but i live in landed property, so the cable point is only shared by maximum 4 houses.... so it's still ok for me....
Shared bandwidth does not mean 1 mega bit per second (if your dl was 1 mega bit per sec) shared by number of occupants in a flat.
Shared bandwidth meant Pipeline (depending on the amount the pipe can carry) to neighbourhood (NOTE: HDB or PTE u still kena) divide by number of users till maximum dl speed reached. -

Landed properties meant nothing in shared bandwidth. You're still affected by the number of occupants by a main pipe shared with the nearby HDB neighbourhood...
Unless you live in CBD or Orchard. -

You cannot just give everything to max. You need to limit your upload and download speed to a right ratio for your connection. Too much or too little will give you hell. -

Dedicated bandwidth does not equate 100% speed all the times.
It depends on ISP's server capability. If ISP's server can support only 1000 adsl users but it has 2000 adsl users online, speed will also be affect. -

They go google some mp3 and go to 1 stupid site and download at 2kbps then though got cheated by ISPs and make up a fuss -
