Today I caught 5 of those little insects that fly around the light bulbs, and I kept them in a small cylinder, filled it with water, and kept it in the freezer for an hour. Then, I took the cylinder out and I saw that the insects were frozen solid in a block of ice. I let the ice melt for 5 minutes and retrieved the bodies. The insects were motionless. They didnt move for another 5 minutes. Then suddenly, their feelers and legs started waving about in the air, and within 10 minutes, each insect was as alive and healthy as it were before I froze them. This is really incredible! I've always thought that suspended animation only occured in simple micro-organisms. I had NEVER thought this would happen to a complex life form such as an insectoid. If humans had exoskeletons, we could survive centuries, frozen in time, in ice. Then we would be thawed in the future and it'll be as if we were awaken from a deep sleep, only to continue life after it has been stopped, or suspended, for hundreds of years. This branch of science, known as Cryonics, may be possible after all, but only if humans had thicker skin, and organs which spread out all over the body instead of in specific places in the body...

humans dont got thick enough skin and the organs will simple die, and not get into suspended animation..but insects got exoskeleton which can shield the organs (which are spread out) and prevent them from getting damaged by the extreme cold, and so the organs and body goes into hibernation, and time stops. this way, an insect frozen now can still be the same age(nothing in its body changes) as it will be 50 yrs from now...Originally posted by Mariner:can i try on you? -

If a human body gets frozen, the fluids in the body would form ice crystals that would cause major damage in the body system. After the body is thawed, there would be so much tissue damage that there isn't anything worth reviving. -
