pager versus cellular phone

somemore their biicycles not those taiwan made but those 'giant', kona, khs, or whatever branded ones
i remember i asked my mum for a new scientific calculator, and i got the 'rotan'
a decade ago......., at that time, we got the pager trend, 'sunpage' in particular, offered students plan to young subscriber who dun even know how to earn a quarter, thats many years ago... cellular pphone is never heard of or very expensive, far too expensive than now, big in size too, 'waterbottle', lol
now, we got students with 3G(is it the lastest, i dun know...) phone, bring to school and show off, fortunate kids, how i wish i got rich parents lol
nowadays parent really love their kids alot, so much as to spoilt them -
oh man...how i miss the sunpage pagers...

but then, dun tell me u wan them to go market and dig every store to buy a lao-ya nokia 1100 for them to use?
pager is not economical. still have to call back, and payphones are fast becoming a rarity. it's still around cos there are places where handphones cannot be used.
with handphones, parents can contact their kids more easily. imagine, if the kid goes missing, no handphone to contact in the first place, how?
it's all about economics and opportunity costs. and ppl look forward, not backwards.... -
how about discman, walkman?
u see old man(ah pek) carrying this outdated equipment, slot in the 'ca set'
or tape, insert the earphone, and here they go....very much satisfied with what they had...
i rmember asking my mum for a discman too(10 years ago in 1996) i was secondary 3...(oh jesus! how time flies), i got a 'ear-full' of nagging...not to mention i got grounded for a week.......
what about this new age, this new generation of fortunate kids?
30 gigabytes of mp3 video viewer, what else?
cost about 500 dollars and above, wah......some more, they need to pay for the download fees like registered napster, in order to use in legally and a peace of mind, since ur paying thru legal means, u dont feel guilty for ripping off somebody elses hardwork, broadband connection for a few seconds of pure dloading enjoyment -
Electronic gadget replacement rate is so fast that it is hard to keep track. For ppl majoring in this area need to constantly upgrade themselves instead. First there is pager than handphone... black n white then handphone with color then now got music can play etc etc...
Similarly there is walkman then CD player and then now mp3 player.. it is always changing... I have to admit I am old indeed.
Pager if it is cheap is still used by corporate companies like paging those 24 hours standby IT personnel in case backend server break down. So as for home user I doubt the demand is there. In fact I tink pager is predominantly used by companies to recall back employees cuz it is still cheaper. -

what if ur son or daughter lost his/hers vital tracking equipment?
once i came across a nokia phone (6610 is it?) on the green patch after i got stomach full of wan tan noodles, my instinct was to pick it up, rip off the sim card, insert my own... but then i rememeber how their parents will react, grounded them(those kids) like what my parents used to... i send back the phone to its young owner after a few attempts to contact them...
they thanked me profusingly and without any confusion thats..."oh its really my equipment that i had accidentally forsake...''
i'm a good sarmaritian right? lol -
cell phone lar.. pager not a single use for me. and there are more to come, other den that overhyped 3G.

so do u wan all of us to return to the 80s, when noodles are $1 a bowl, bus is 20 cents, 30 cents, 40 cents or wat.... like wat the PAP say, u wan lower cost of living, lower ur pay to the 80s, all our prices back to 80s...
i think u can even think degrade further... go back to the 80s, tell them, why u need walkman? got radio, got rediffusion.. why take bus? u shld cycle... why u need telephone? why not cycle to the person's house and tell the person wat u wan to say... -

i dun even got a girl friends, needless to say a family...
now my home got only 2 members, my mum and me......my pap passed away recently, got him a decent funeral rites and there he went into the crematorial without a word... he cant speak, he got a stroke!
thinking of moving to a small 3-room resale flat with my mum, still in this vincinity......tampines is a good 'breeding' ground.....lol not bleeding, mind you..
now in a 4-room housing block, far too much excessive space for a 2 members 'family'.
not thinking of starting a family yet... maybe later once i got my career 'up-rooted' firmly, any gals out here want to marry a poor guy? -

i think i got my handphone at the age of 20 years old, at that time im working part-time..its my personal one not sharing with any bodying else...its a sony ericsson, colored, single camera phone which i paid about 180 for it...
cheap skate right? as compared to those youngsters' phone, got an mp3s player recently........ thanks to the progress package, i got a 100 from it to top up my existing savings, 500++ in total for a video ipod, lol thats enough for me i guess........cant afford to follow the trend closely bcos u need real bucks...
think my pap very rich down in hell or maybe heaven(i dont know!)
i burnedhim a lot of 'money' plenty of them or maybe he got a few wives down there......i dont really know!
