  He is correct wad, he using pythagoras theorem, a^ + b^ = c^ where c is the longest side. So 4^ + 3^ is 16 + 9 also equals to 25, which is c^, therefore you ^25 and get 5 as the answer.

  the sum of square of 2 sides = e square of longest side
  4square plus 3 square = e square of longest side
  4 x 4 + 3 x 3 = e square of longest side
  16 + 9 = 25
  
  square root of 25 = 5

  This is only E Maths, you realise? Imagine if A Maths... calculus, binomials, logarithms... you're not JC students, we presume.
