Is it true that updating windows lags your com? cos everytime I updated my windows, the boot up time takes longer than before. does anyone experiences this?

hmm...thats a good question, cuz i believe the more patches you have, although the PC is less vulnerable to viruses and prevents error in PC, your PC has to go through so many patches to load up and check.

yea.. it will lag yur PC a little... hence, I switch off the auto updating.. but not recommended la... up to u lor..

It only lags during the updating, but not after updating.

After downloading the patch and restarting, your system should work better and not worse. Unless you didn't download from Microsoft.

If you are running a genuine copy of windows xp and updates in a proper way (meaning you did not install any patch to bypass Microsoft's validation), then the Updates will not cause any lags after you restart. Auto Update will only lag in some systems in a few cases. Firstly, its when you allow it to download and install automatically and you might experience lag right after you switch on your computer.
Secondly, it might happen when Auto Update is downloading updates or installing updates. However, lagging should not happen after you have installed and then restart your computer

The answer is: Yes and No.
it depends on what the patch does lah.
If it is a feature patch then very likely it will add to the load of your pc.
If it is a bug fix then very likely there will be little to no change.
