I am planning to go Australia this winter.
Where can I get winter clothes for kids (including thermal, ie long john)?
I heard there is one shop in Suntec City and one in Parkmall? But I have not noticed that? Anyone has any idea?
I also wanted to get a camera. Where is the best place I can get a good digital camera with reasonable price? ( Currently I am using Fujifilm Finepix 4700 zoom)

winter clothes are pretty expensive in singapore
there is a shop at plaza sing. but because i dont know the price of winter clothes in singapore, i dont know if its considered expensive or not...
but some of the stuff there are of pretty good quality. -

What is the name of the shop? Which floor is it? I only know there is a carrrefour. Prices I am looking for is about or above S$50.00 for kids apparrel. Alan Photo isn't bad. Can go there. I bought my camera from there and customer service is pretty good I would say.

Cold Wear (at Plaza Singapura, Parkway) is having a sale. Saw some cute children's wear selling at $10. U may want to check it out!

trust me on this, and don't go to those winter wear shops ... they sell crap clothes at ridiculous prices .... invest in a good quality branded jacket from one of those outdoor adventure shops or boutiques .... they'll last you long enough for you to pass onto your grandchildren ... bought one of those down jackets at one of those shops and the thing came apart on my mid-winter ! ...

And Fatum is right. Those winter shop sells you unknown brand low quality stuff for very high price. Branded ones are perhpas more expensive, but worth the price. -
Parkas are good for winter...other than that u might want to consider windbreakers too...they protect ur body against the cold wind..and also mild light rain/snow
for camera it depend on the batt...i dont think there's special battery that work in freezing temp..so u need 2 batt..when one is too cold and cannot operate, swap it wif the other one in one of ur pocket(warm it) and continue using..use it as a cycle -

my guess is that you'll be going to ski or do some atheletic activities right ? ... but you'll probably be also running around in the cities too eh ? ...
don't ever get a down jacket then ... especially those over-priced crap from those "winter shops" ... down jackets doesn't breathe, and traps your sweat inside, you'll feel damm sticky and hot inside, like a bah zhang ! ... and the down will stink too ! ... and forget about long johns and all that ... I never wear them unless it goes below -30 ... a thick pair of jeans or corduroys is more than enough ...
check out northface or salomon, get a breatheable skiing-type skin, which can also double as outer casual wear, and a breatheable goretex type outer jacket, and they won't really be much more expensive than those crap clothes being sold at those "winter shops" ... a scarf is only neccessary beyond -20, when you'll want to use that to wrap around your face, but remember to get yourself a toque and gloves too ... and get yourself a pair of high-cut tracking boots too, very important ! ... (goretex army boots would do, but they are a bit slippery on icy sidewalks) have fun yah ...

There was a shop near Chinatown which sold winter clothing, but I don't know if its still there. Anyway, like some others here, I've also seen the shop at Suntec. I think its somewhere in the middle, but I forgot which floor. As for me, I bought locally trenchcoats, sweaters, etc etc. But in the end, I got fed up of the high prices here and bought a leather jacket (very effective) from Shenzhen at ony S$20
For cameras, I would resort to the big stores like Courts, Harvey Normal, Best Denki, etc. They're prices are not bad, service is usually very honest and good...and you can have interest-free instalment also (I think its credit card linked or something, not sure).
I've never bought anything from Sim Lim area, although some people say its cheap....because I've experienced unfriendly service there before, so buy already feel damned lousy. -

An ordinary woolen jacket or sweater is good enough for Australian winter.
If you need more warm clothing then buy it over there. -
