Air stewardess has limited life span in their profession. Can they still command such high pay when they are 40 and above? So essentially while they are earning they muz know how to save money. This money is to save themselves from being jobless after the airlines don't want them any longer. They are on contract not permanent.
On the good side, the money they earn is really a lot compared to a land-based waitress doing similar jobscope

The basic pay they get is low, say about 1.4K starting, but allowances vary with destination. So depending on where you fly you could get up to 3K monthly. There is a bond to be served, minimum would be a year plus. Then there is a bonus on top after you finished your bond or a number of years, last minimum amount I gathered from a friend was 20K.
